• Interfacial energies calculated for calcite with water and ACC. Predictions made dissolution+re-precipitation vs solid state transformation. Discussion of use in classical nucleation theory. The interfaces water, dehydrated hydrated amorphous calcium carbonate are studied molecular dynamics simulations. interfacial demonstrate that the interface is most stable when contact or low concentration solutions rather than carbonate. These values used to test interplay between supersaturation energy calcite. They a dissolution-reprecipitation process should always be energetically preferred transformation
